8 x vitamin E in Alana
It feels great, not dry, and it smells nice. I really like this stuff. All my make up comes right off.Julia Kang, author
What is Vitamin E? 4x tocopherols and 4x tocotrienols
Vitamin E consists of 8 different fat-soluble substances. Four of them are tocopherols and the other four are tocotrienols. Each of these groups consists of an alpha, beta, gamma and delta substance. The pharmaceutical and acceptable cosmetic industries have isolated 1 tocopherol, being alpha-tocopherol. The alpha-tocopherol is chemically faked in the industry and marketed as "vitamin E". You can recognize the chemical alternate on a label as dl-alpha-tocopherol (please note the 'dl' especially; the natural alpha-tocopherol will be indicated as d-alpha tocopherol). Alana avoids this on purpose. Amanprana, supported by science, knows better.
The whole work better than the parts
The natural school honours the motto that the whole, the totum, works better than the separate parts. It is therefore healthier to use a complete Vitamin E, which is retrieved from a natural source. The 8 substances in vitamin E all have a separate function and when they stay together, they work better and strengthen each other's function. The body 'recognizes' natural substances better than fake; when a natural substance enters our body, the body can absorb it, an unnatural substance is excreted.
Organic wheat germ oil and red palm oil: Richest sources of Vitamin E
Vitamin E is found in oil-rich products such as grains, nuts and seeds. The 2 richest sources of tocotrienols and tocopherols are wheat germ oil and red palm oil. Wheat germ oil is the richest source of tocotrienols and red palm oil is the richest source of tocopherols. (For the sake of accuracy: Both types of oil also contain substances from the other group; for example, wheat germ oil also has some tocotrienols and red palm oil also contain some tocopherols). Alana contains both. In other words, organic, without pesticides, because you don’t want that on your skin. Red palm oil is also 'sustainable'.
Gamma-tocotrienols offer 40-60 times better protection to your skin than alpha-tocopherol
When Alana removes your make-up and deep cleanses your face, your face, neck and décolleté can use the soothing power of 8 x vitamin E with confidence throughout the night. Why is it beneficial to use vitamin E in an external application? It was scientifically proven that tocotrienols can penetrate the skin and it is absorbed pretty fast in the lower skin layers. Once they are there, they protect the skin and provide it with the means to repair itself. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant in order to counter the ageing of the skin. Make up, fine dust, ozone and UV rays damage the skin. It has been proven scientifically that gamma-tocotrienols protect the skin against skin oxidation 40-60 times better than, for example, alpha-tocopherol. (1)
