Good quality fats or oils are a balm for your cardiovascular system. Poor quality fats or oils cause heart attacks and diabetes.
I love walking through organic shops and discovering new products. A while back I discovered Amanprana coconut oil and started using it for stir-frying veggies. Based on a friend's suggestion, I now use the same coconut oil after my shower. It makes my skin blissfully soft. Tip: I hold the container under the hot shower water so the oil melts and it's easier to rub on.Elise Crombez, Belgian top model and presenter, Belgium
Think of your heart. Take care when it comes to deodorised fat, refined fat, margarine and all cheap supermarket oils, including those found in organic shops.
If you understand how our bodies absorb long-chain triglycerides, you will also understand how dangerous poor quality fats or oils can be. Think of your heart. When we talk of the poor quality of fats or oils we mean rancid oil as well as all deodorised fats, all refined or hardened fats, all margarines (including Becel) and all of the cheaper oils used for frying, including those found in organic shops.
Poor quality fat or oil goes straight to your heart.
The majority of the fats that we consume (the long-chain triglycerides) are absorbed into the body by way of the lymphatic system in the small intestine. All our lymphatic vessels meet in the thoracic duct, and once the fat is collected there, it travels through the stomach in the diaphragm and is moved directly to your heart. And so, poor quality fat or oil goes straight to your heart. It is not diverted through your liver, as is the case with other foods that we digest. This dangerous and bad fat is only detoxified once the heart has fully circulated its contents once and the drops of fat end up on a random spot in one of the liver’s blood vessels.
Poor quality fats or oils will oxidise in your body.
The threat of a heart attack or diabetes is ever-present.
In other words: Before the fat from long-chain triglycerides reaches your liver, your cardiovascular system is exposed to whatever the supermarkets and food manufacturers (and also the organic shops) were able to get cheaply – cheap but mostly bad or unhealthy fat. Heart attacks and diabetes are the result of poor quality oil or fat. Refined or deodorised oils lack the protective substances that were naturally present in the oil, and instead often contain dangerous ingredients that were created through the deodorising or refining process. These unhealthy oils will oxidise in your body and subject the cells of your cardiovascular system to oxidative stress. This is why an unhealthy fat or oil will damage your heart and blood cells. Furthermore, bad fats slowly take the place of good fats in our cell walls (the membrane), causing billions of our cells to stop functioning properly, one by one... Day after day, year after year, the bad fats accelerate the aging process of our bodies and lead to lifestyle diseases.
Diabetes, late-onset diabetes and type 1 diabetes due to poor quality fats.
And also Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, dementia and many other lifestyle diseases
In reality, diabetes (type 2 diabetes) is in the first instance an illness caused by unhealthy fats, resulting in the pancreatic and other cells no longer functioning properly. The billions of pancreatic cells either become exhausted or insensitive to insulin. In this sense ‘insensitive’ means that the cell membranes are unable to perform their job, as bad fats have taken over the membranes, while insulin receptors cannot function properly either. Healthy cells become cancerous ones because oxygen is unable to reach the heart of the cell, and healthy brain cells are susceptible to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s or dementia. Meanwhile the skin becomes wrinkled and exhibits pigmentation or other issues.
