Photographer Dos Winkel: “I have been taking underwater photographs for almost 30 years and have carried out around 120 expeditions. My breakthrough as a photographer came with the publication of my book ‘Another World’, which is now sold in almost 50 different countries. In order to be able to cope with the hardships during the expeditions that are often psychologically and physically taxing, my wife (who is also a photographer) and I need to stay very healthy. As vegetarians we have a healthy lifestyle, but the important thing is to maintain optimal fitness. A good, varied diet is essential, but it is especially important to maintain a good balance of different fatty acids. And because we don’t want the oceans to continue being emptied of fish, we made a joint decision: we use the best Amanprana plant-based oil blends. Not only are they healthier than fish oil, but they are better for the environment and for the fish!
Save the seas. We urgently need to reduce the amount of fish we eat. It is estimated that 70% of fish stocks are being overfished. For decades we have been extracting more fish from the seas than can be replenished. Industrial fishing is also one of the causes of the disappearance of coral and along with it breeding grounds for fish. The North Sea, that once offered the richest and clearest waters for fish, has been fished empty and has changed into an industrial mud pit. The same destiny faces all the other seas and oceans. The total flaunting of the regulations means that deep-sea overfishing has now become an ecological time bomb. Fish farms are not the solution. They pollute the local ecosystems. They are the cruel battery hen farms of the sea. Why are we doing this? We don’t need to eat fish to be healthy. The European Commission has calculated that 60% of cancer-producing dioxins and PCBs in our body come from fish and fish oils. So if you eat less fish and stop taking fish oils, there will be less need to fish. That way you will be saving the seas.
Why kill fish for their oils when vegetable omegas are better and safer? Amanprana's Okinawa Omega is the solution. Amanprana contains alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) from the omega-3 family and linoleic acid (LA) from the omega-6 family. Barely any fish oil if any at all. These are the only two oils that your body cannot produce itself and that we need to obtain from food for our health. An additional and important advantage is that ALA and LA can be transformed in the body into all the fatty acids that your body needs (around 30 of them). So you don’t need to take fish oils at all. Amanprana Omega 7 and 9 also contains a lot of vitamin E and carotene. With no dioxins and PCBs. Available in natural food stores in eight delicious flavours.
